12 Week Shape Up - Week 2 - Link Up!

Week 1 was going awesome for me. I was down 3.8 lbs in the first 4 days and then it happened... The weekend. And my total weight loss for week 1 is now only 1.4 lbs

So unfair, right?
I really tried to do well this weekend. I was active every day; going on long walks, resisting desserts, fruit 'till noon, opting out of bread and dairy when I could... but none of that mattered. In 2 days this weekend I gained 5 lbs. Yup, it's true. Eating a purely protein and vegetable-centered, low-carb diet didn't matter. It was the quantity of foods. And I had too much. Too much of a good thing isn't such a good thing. So between Sunday night and today I'm back to being down 1.4 total. It just SUCKS because I saw lower numbers and it's all messed up. I'm bummed. I want to go binge eat. But I'm not... want to know why?

Mission 2 - Tracking
This leads us to this week's mission. Tracking EVERYTHING I eat.
I was doing awesome last week using the free site The Daily Plate. Then this weekend I didn't track and even though I 'thought' I was doing well, I apparently just had entirely too much healthy food.

So that means for the next 11 weeks I will be tracking like a crazy girl. Installing a link to The Daily Plate on every computer I'm on, my phone, my ipad... everything.

So why do I recommend The Daily Plate instead of one of the gazillion calorie-counting sites out there? It's because I don't believe in calorie counting. I also don't believe in WW points. I believe in eating healthy foods that are right for your body. I believe that if you eat too much refined sugar, your body craves it and you head in a downward spiral. I also believe that if you want a 300 calorie cookie instead of your dinner, that choice sets you up for failure. Even if you track it. 

The daily plate not only helps to track what your eating and how well your working out, but it also provides information on what kind of foods to eat. The website describes how different foods effect the body. If someone is trying to gain weight or if someone is trying to suppress their hunger, the Daily plate provides such foods that would help.

  1. Tracking is a great way to go when you want the pounds to come off. I was and simi still use WW but I am off the "plan". I know what is good and what is bad (sort of) and I go from there. Keep it up Leah!!! woo hoo

    should have seen the amount of crap that I ate/drank this weeks in epic proportions. Big. Fat. Fail.

  3. I signed up for an account at Livestrong and will have a play with it today to see what I think. I've been using My Fitness Pal for awhile.
