Nobody's perfect. Be proud of who you are.

Posted By: Leah
I saw this quote on FB the other day and liked it so much that I wanted to share it with all of you. It's ironic that I saw it on a social media site, because so much of the time we make ourselves seem so perfect to the rest of the world online. Sharing only what we want to via our blogs, fb, instagram etc.

And...Yes, maybe we complain on these social media sites about our lives as well. We complain about not wanting to go to work on  a Monday. Or that we're sick. But 99% of people's blog posts, status updates, IG pics, etc. are about something awesome. Somewhere they are going that's awesome, something they've seen that's awesome. Something their kid's doing that's awesome. And I don't think they're bragging. Yet I don't think we're all living these 'perfect' lives, either.

And to be honest, I don't think what we're all doing, pretending to be 'perfect' time, is a bad thing. I don't think that posting photos of us looking cute or skinny is bragging. We just want to appear awesome, to be cool and popular and the opposite of lonely.

Like it or not, everything we publish online leaves a stamp, or a mark for all time. So what do you want to remember? How do you want others to perceive you? Things are boring and sad? Or cute and awesome?

I was ecstatic to be tagged in this pic and then I re-posted it on my own fb, IG etc. It's okay to be okay with yourself. Yes, I'm not perfect, but I'm also proud of who I am and who I've become. There are so many things I'd like to change about myself, but even more things I think are pretty cool. And I like to share them. Does that make me narcissistic or pretentious?

My life absolutely is not perfect either. I don't lie about being happy when I'm not. However, I don't dwell on the negative and I do accentuate the positive. Don't we all? I'm proud of who I am, my child, and what we've become. Is that a bad thing? Lauren sent me this article about wanting to be the opposite of lonely. It's written by a 22 year old, but this girl really gets it. It's about the anticipation of what's next. Tragically she was killed, just as the article was published in a car accident. It's ironic and sad.

I have hope for myself, and hope for all of you. No, none of us are perfect. But it's our imperfections that make us unique, and real. Find what makes you happy and do more of it.

  1. Love this! I often time find myself reading some blogs like ??? really? I mean come ON! Be authentic! GAH now I sound like Tamra from RHOC!

  2. First, you are adorable. Love that picture!

Second, sometimes I can't go on Facebook because of the people constantly bragging, especially when I know it's not true. Hahaha. Like the "OMG, my hubby is like the best person ever!!!!" when you know that same hubby has been cheating on her for years. Lying to yourself does not make you happy! But celebrating the real, true good things will.

  3. hah ai love the fb picture verison

  4. Love reading your blog :) YOu always keep me thinking!

  5. it took me my whole life to finally accept the way i am. perhaps getting older makes you not really care what other people think. i really like that. this is an excellent blog post! thank you for this! we all could use a reminder often in our lives that it's okay not to be perfect.... not to care what other people think.

  6. The first picture has my stolen words on it. Please either take it down or contact me at for proper accreditation. Thank you in advance for cooperating. I do not wish to have to take down the search index of such an awesome post, I just want credit where credit is due.

Thanks so much for your comments! I love comments and I love to reply to them. Please make sure you have your email attached to your profile so I can respond. Thanks :)
