Happy Halloween!

Posted By: Leah

Happy Halloween from the Lovely Life of Leah blog!

Even when I try to make him look like a scary zombie, Gav is still the cutest boy I've ever seen!
Here's the origional photo, it's from a couple years back when Gav was almost 4,but it's still an all time favorite :)

I try, I really for sure try to get excited about Halloween, but it's just not my kind of holiday. Gav's going trick-or treating with his dad and is going to be a zombie ninja this year! I'll be eating passing out candy. I hope everyone has an amazingly fun and safe Halloween!!!

PS awesome Dia de los Muertos post coming up tomorrow! I know, I'm weird but I love Day of the Dead and don't like Halloween. So similar, but not really! At least Day of the Dead celebrates something. Halloween celebrates... everything scary!? I work too hard to keep my life 'lovely' {I'm LovelyLifeofLeah, remember?} than to want anything not so happy around.

Ten on Tuesday

Posted By: Leah
 Ten on Tuesday

1 -I got my holiday cards ordered this week! This is the longest I've ever waited to order them and I was giving myself conniptions, but we did the photos this weekend and I got that bad boy ordered Monday night before the sales went off! (Sorry, if you haven't ordered your cards yet. Not trying to stress you out. If you recall, holiday cards are pretty much the biggest deal about the holidays to me.). And I'm no graphic designer. I pretend to be one sometimes, but for cards in the past I've always left it to the pro's and for the most part gone with Shutterfly (plus they usually have great deals). But...this year I went with TinyPrints. I'll reveal the card on here once they are sent out (not trying to give away the surprise, I mean it's just a picture, but no one knows which one lol! And I've officially hyped up my card too much)

2 ... now I totally feel obligated to show you some of my holiday cards of the past couple years:

No, I don't usually send Thanksgiving cards, but I did in 2010! haha.

The one thing that is the same is we have awesome expressions in every card including the one for this year! Ok that's all I'm going to say! Oh and PS this is not a sponsored post... I wish it was, Shutterfly sponsor me please!

3 -  LAST thing on this year's card (geez, this should be called "Ten on Tuesday, I only like to talk about cards."  I had an AWESOME idea inspired by Pinterest. Have you searched holiday card ideas on there?
Nope... didn't think so, I'm the only one super obsessive over them.

ANYWAY I had this awesome plan to do a card like this with a gazing ball!

4 -Who knew those balls are impossible to find? (we tried World Market, Lowe's, Wal-mart, and a bunch more stores with no luck). I found this thing at Ollie, but it wasn't smooth enough :(
See how sad i was about this not working?
So this year's card is nothing at all like this, but I was wearing that same dress I love from Shabby Apple (geez, this not a sponsored post from them either. Sadface)

5- These last Five will be non-card related I sware!  But it is holiday related! I am excited because I already chose the holiday swap I'm going to be taking part in. The sign-ups open 11/5 but because Lin is awesome, she has a reminder she'll send you if you want to remember to get in on this one.

6- I have already started holiday shopping! And I like giving really thoughtful/personalized stuff when I can. That said, I need a tiny saw or a dremmell. Or something else. And it's a gift for BF so he might have to let me use his and hide in the house. IDK might not be safe. We'll see...

7 - The craft fair at my work is coming up in less than 2 weeks. And this is where I usually make a lot of the money that I spend on holiday gifts, crossing my fingers that the luxe hair ties I made will sell well. They are doing okay in my etsy shop. If you want to try them out, I'm offering free shipping until Halloween (yikes! that's tomorrow!) with the code SHOPLEAHFREESHIP

$4.99 for a set of 5

8- Speaking of the luxe hair ties, how adorable will it be to display them on a tiny xmas tree like they are ornaments on my table at the craft fair? Sorta cute? Maybe?

9-  You know Britt? She has survived Sandy yay! (she's in Mass) and she made the most amazing vampire bite cupcakes. I can't even handle how adorable they are!

10 - Tomorrow is Halloween thank goodness! I Am sooo ready for it to be over so we can move on to important holidays like Christmas and Hanakkah and Dia de los Muertos!

PS I am SOOO LOVING this sugar skull themed tree! And by clicking through I realized the cool ornaments are from an etsy shop! Adorable!

Link up with Lin (the one doing the holiday swap) to share your own 10 on Tuesday!

Leah's Unsolicited Advice - Make a plan

Posted By: Leah
Happy Friday you guys!
(And we all know I'm a southern gangsta and if I really said this to you it would go something like
"Happy Fri-Fri Y'all" ...kidding...sorta).

I recently have noticed myself offering more and more unsolicited advice to other people, and the crazy thing is my advice has actually been helping others! I feel like a little counselor over here! I've somehow really really been helping people and it makes me feel sooo happy. To protect the parties involved, I am not going to list their specific examples in case they don't want their dirty laundry showing up all over the place.... but...

The interesting thing is the reason I can offer this advice is that I've been in pretty much every situation that my friends have also been going through. I try not to talk about my past too much in the blog (for fear of boring you guys). But more often than not, people find my past really helpful to their own issues. Here's the short list of topics I'm a semi-pro on, in no particular order:
  • I've been married / planned an extravagant wedding
  • I've TTC (done the whole temp taking/tracking/fertility friend game)
  • I've been pregnant
  • I've been through 16 hrs of labor and had a c-section (being Rh-negative and had a jaundiced baby)
  • I've attachment parented
  • I've been unable to breastfeed
  • I've potty trained successfully (in 2 days mind you. Holler!)
  • I've gotten my child to fall asleep easily and stay in his own bed (for the most part)
  • I've been a SAHM (for a short amount of time, but enough to offer an opinion/support)
  • I've been a working mom
  • I've been divorced
  • I've dated
  • I've found new love
  • I've experienced 'miracles' through my found spirituality
  • I've had issues with my son's teacher
  • I've had issues with my son's classmates
  • I've been in debt
  • I've successfully gotten myself out of debt and learned to save (insert said 'miracle' here lol)
  • I've graduated from college
  • I've struggled with learning in college/school in general
  • I've looked for a job/been rejected for jobs
  • I've been vegan / vegetarian / raw
  • I've lost significant weight / gained weight / lost weight / etc.
  • I've had low self esteem and high self esteem
  • I've started my own business
  • I have failed at said business and started other businesses (hello Etsy!)
  • I've been a fashion emergency. I've had a fashion intervention (thanks BF & Tanger Outlets)
  • I've traveled to Europe, a ton of Caribbean islands, central America, and the majority of the US
  • I've accepted the help of others
  • I've given a lot to charity and received even more in return
.... and more, but those are the most recent items that my knowledge has been called on. They are what I've gone through, and maybe the reason I've experienced them is so that I can help others.

And clearly (or if you couldn't tell) I have come out on top in each of these situations.   How's that Kelly Clarkson song go? "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger"
Of course none of these situations were anywhere close to actually killing me, but you get the idea.

What I'm saying is that whatever struggle my friends, or acquaintances are going through, I have been through most of them too. And at the time, duh, it sucked. But I feel like I'm living proof that any situation can be conquered and you can become a better person because of it.

In all of these above listed situations, I had to find the strength within myself to push forward and develop a plan. By creating a plan, I felt in control. Most of the time, getting the steps of the plan written out on paper is the very first step to making a situation better or at least tolerable.

I've also enlisted the help of professionals. No, I've not paid for this help, most of it I have found in books, online, or even on TV!

Below is a list of people (and most have written books) that have changed my life. These have helped me personally get through so many of the above situations. You can get these for free at the library or buy 2nd hand editions for next to nothing on Amazon or another website.

If you are struggling with someting, I there are always free resources out there for you as well. You just need to know where to look. And that starts with making your plan.

Once you know what you want to do, here are some books that I can personally recommend.

if you find yourself single...

Let's put it this way: I followed the advice of this book and had BF knocking down my door within weeks. (And by knocking down my door I mean blowing up my FB). And he was the quenticential bachelor. Never been married, never lived with a GF. He was the popular football player in HS. The one who's dated a zillion girls (ok maybe a few less). And he chose me. The divorced girl who was never all that cool.
And it's been almost two years. Thanks Patti
BF is such a fan of this book too (it's not like you trick guys into thinking you're hot sh*t, it's just really simple things like letting the guy call you, not labeling the relationship, etc.) that he has recommended it to all of his friends who are single girls. That says it all right there!
PS- It's not like that old book "The Rules"

if you find yourself in debt....
Ok I admit I've never actually read this book. I just googled the Dave Ramsey Snowball concept and that told me everything I needed to know. Pretty simple stuff about how to save, how much to have in the bank, what you need for emergencies, when to use your credit cards, etc.

if your kids are not behaving as they should....

I HIGHLY recommend watching Supernanny or Nanny 911 shows. The concepts are the same. I cannot thank the people who made these shows enough. I started watching just as Gav was two years old and starting to test his boundaries. We created a 'naughty spot.' Rules, and the 5 to 1 countdown. They key is to stay calm, and consistant. All of Gav's life he and I have received compliments on how well behaved he is. And if he gets a little extra hyper at the wrong time all I have to do is look at him and say "5" and he KNOWS to calm down immediately. It's like magic.
For all things baby-having I'd recommend the What to Expect books. I am off the vegan diet (sorry I love fro yo and chicken wings too much) so I could get you started but not offer much long-term advice on going veggie for longer than a year.

And as always, feel free to contact me to talk about anything. Sometimes it's easier talking to someone who you don't know well and who is removed from the situation. The only topics that I really have very little knowledge on and I'd help you locate a professional are those that deal with family issues/ loss/ violence/ abuse/ and I don't mean 50 Shades of Gray stuff  hahah! PS I seriously hated that book and I'm no prude. But I do sorta want to see the movie!

Coffee Talk with Natalie Blair - Grab the Kleenex

Posted By: Leah
Coffee Talk with Natalie of ohemgee!

If you follow me on IG, you saw my salted caramel hot chocolate yesterday. This is my all time favorite starbucks drink. It's not on the menu, but is super easy for them to make. Go ahead and order it. And you're welcome.

Ok back to coffee talk (or hot chocolate talk, whatever, hot drink in a cup)

Remember my Confession I'm a fake Hipster post? (this an all-time fave post of mine).
As I mentioned there, I'm not really into super cool music. So although this post is music-themed, don't get sad when what I list is really mainstream / embarrassing to even read let alone admit that I listen to.

Anyhow... disclaimer aside... on to the questions....(Yes kleenex is needed... I know it's weird but  trust me)

1. What is in your playlist? I like old music. Not oldies from the 50's and 60's but top 40 hits from the 80's and 90's. Right now on my ipod in my car is stuff like Africa by Toto, November Rain by Guns N Roses, J. Cole, TI, 50 Cent, Kanye, Blink 182, Beastie Boys, Michael Jackson, and some really embarrassing stuff like Crash Test Dummies, and Hoobastank, Lincoln Park, Limp Bizkit, and worse.

2. What is the funniest YouTube video you always go to when you need a laugh (or if you just wanna watch it)? Unless I'm looking for a music video or somebody sends me a link, I rarely get on Youtube. However, I cannot get enough of this one. It makes me happy, sad, get chills, it's SOOO overplayed (I mean if they recreate it on The Office for Jim & Pam's wedding, you KNOW it's been overdone) but I don't care. It's timeless and epic. And I'm jealous I wasn't there. And my fav are the less-good dancing friends who look uncomfortably awkward. The groom is the best. He's actually really good.

And 2nd favorite one  pretty much takes me through the exact same emotions (and I cry every time so be prepared) is this one:

3. Favorite song in the whole wide world that you never get sick of and it's on repeat. oh wow so many. I'm going to say the Avett Brother's Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise. And I've been known to cry through this one too. (don't think they have a real video, but this is the song and it's AMAZINGLY done with this video on Vimeo.. i know, random but it's spectacular)
Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise from Jason Mitcham on Vimeo.

4. Do you have any embarrassing songs/singers/bands that you like? Not sure I can get any more embarassed than I already am... but I did recently find my CD book. You had one too I'm sure... it holds like 200 cd's in this photo album looking thing that zips. Yeah, there are some true gems in there. I mean not just Garth Brooks and Boyz II Men (these are classics!) But other fantastic CD's like Tori Amos, Lisa Loeb, Backstreet Boys, I tried playing them for Gav and he just wasn't as impressed as I was lol.

OOOH!!! BUT! I found a CD of a high school band that my HS best friend and I were OBSESSED with. And they ended up going to the same college she and I went to!!!! And you can just imagine how this made out lives. Yes we totally hung out with them and thought we were real live groupies. And, we may have been their only friends before they all dropped out freshman year....

SO I recently found their CD!!! So I played it for Gav, he loved it (something in his dna told him this was good music!) and here he is singing/dancing that random Sunday I was folding laundry and had to video it.

And if you heard the lyrics "Ann is the whiter of the two..." and "tran is the vietnemese one, she's always a big barrel of fun" you would be correct. This was hot back in 1997, trust me. Christa if you're reading this, you can let everyone know it's real. ... really embarrassing/awesome.

5. What's that ONE song that ALWAYS makes you cry? I actually had to take this cd out of my car. I would be driving and this song would come on and I'd be absolutely hysterical. A co-worker got married and this was off of the cd she gave as wedding favors (why don't ppl do that anymore, oh yeah nobody listens to cd's unless they are old school like me). ANYHOW Ben Folds clearly has had some issues, I mean who else writes songs about taking a girl to get an abortion the day after xmas.  So here's a less-known song of theirs. It's just too much. So don't listen if you are reading this at work or at a library...or in front of someone who you don't want to see you bawl your eyes out. but if you want a good cry, this is guaranteed waterworks.

I have heard so many people saying they went to weddings where this was the 1st dance. I would seriously have to leave.
So... really I'm okay the first minute or so of the song. It's the part around 1:38 where he is talking about living on the street and being born 50 years before and ... ok I can't even type about it. Real talk. I have to turn this mess off.

And if that didn't do it for you I have another one. BF has this on one of his Spodify playlists and I just try not to listen to the lyrics when it comes on because it's sooo beyond sweet I want to cry.

"Home is wherever I'm with you" I mean how much more sentimental can you get?
ok moving on to the next question.

6. What song have you recently heard, that you can't seem to get out of your head? I really like hip hop, especially lil wayne. I saw him in concert 2 times last year. And this is probably my favorite song of all time by him. The other day when I woke up (I have the hip hop station as my alarm in the morning) this was on. It's been in my head since then.

And yes, at the concert he fake plays a guitar like in the video. It's awful. This was before he started wearing vans and hanging out with the skateboard crowd.

Ok that is an old song, so a way more current one that happens to be Gav's favorite (I need to get him on camera rapping it's beyond cute) is Kreayshawn's Breakfast.

BF burned gav and I Kreay's whole new album. We love it. AND no, clearly Gav thinks this is a song about breakfast, he doesn't know what the syrup she's rapping about really is. I didn't know either until it was explained to me lol.

So you for sure should link up with Natalie. She is super awesome. Like FOR REAL epic.
Every now and then (and it probably comes across in my posts) I get a little bummed out in the old blog world. Like I don't always find people I connect with or relate to. And that's fine, i do my own thing. But I was extra happy to find Natalie. But Natalie's my girl! We're about the same age, both have been divorced, both are, mamas, but don't talk about boring kid stuff all the time....
Anyhow through Natalie I've met sooo many other cool girls too! The reason I'm saying all this is Natalie's the girl you need to know. Follow her blog, she is hands down the coolest SAHM ever. I don't even think of her as a SAHM, she just happens to be a mom, but most importantly she's an awesome person!

So What! Wednesday

Posted By: Leah
This week I'm saying So What! If...
  • I really love Kanye and Kim K together. They seem so perfectly pretentious and I love watching their every move (Yes Kimmy and I are IG friends. gross lol). And Some people say that it's good they are together, because there's a higher chance of them dying together in a plane crash. Yikes. I like all of Kanye's music, I don't know him personally so I can't speak to if he's really an @sshole. But I do know someone who used to work on Justin Timberlake's tour (yup, back in his futuresex lovesounds tour <- what kind of album name is that anyway?) and my friend said that JT was a legit @sshole.
  • I have mixed emotions on JT and Jessica Biel getting married over the weekend. I mean yes, it's wonderful when people get married (most of the time) but I don't know...  JT needs a certain kind of girl. Jessica seems a little bit down to earth for him. Maybe the 7th Heaven days gave her a celebrity status that I missed out on? As my friends and I watched the Camdens in our dorm room, we always hated on Mary (Biel) and wished her off the show. And it worked. And now she's hitched to JT. He was all big-time in N'Sync in those days so maybe they are @ssholes together.
  • Remember how I don't like fall? I really don't like halloween. Gav will be with his dad that night, so don't worry on him missing out on the fun because I'm so ba humbug. In being the introspective/self-understanding kind of person I am, I really have been trying to figure out what my damage is with autumn. I think the sad part is I know specifically why i don't like fall (shorter days, crazy cold/rainyhot weather). And I know why I don't like Halloween (I don't like scary stuff, and what does Halloween celebrate anyway? An excuse to dress up like a whore if you're past the age of 14?) I just want to understand why everybody else loves it. I hop on pinterest and see all these crafts and recipes. Please enlighten me so that I get it, I hate being the only halloween hater.
  • Another thing about fall is everybody seems to get all big-time depressed. I totally am not calling anyone out. But of the big bloggers... you know... the big, big ones with like 5,000 followers they all made announcements this week, I kid you not, I have seen four separate posts on how they are so embarassed but they each had to get on anti-depressants. Like huge lead-ups such as, "tomorrow's post is one I'm scared to publish..." so I'm like oh wow this is going to be GOOD! Maybe someobody is going to confess to something scandalous! or hawt! or both!!! No :( just these girls 'admitting' they are on anti-depressants. I guess different circles think different things are a big deal, because I think something as common as that isn't all that blog-worthy let alone a 'confession.' That's like saying "I went to the gyno for my annual appt.'  I was talking to someone about seritonin a couple weeks back and she said that if people aren't exercising 30+ min a day, that the body most likely isn't making enough seritonin anyway. Moral of story... seriously.. not a big deal. But good for them that they went to the dr. to have that handled.
  • I am not happy with New Girl from last night. Was it just me or was that a 30 minute Ford Fusion commercial with Jess Day being a mess and Ryan Seacrest popping in every commercial break. Lame. There was no Mindy Project so I switched over to The B in Apt 23. I did like Zach Morris and Dawson and all the other cameos.
So What Wednesday

31 Days of Awesome | Days 14 - 21

Posted By: Leah
Get caught up with Day 1, Days 2-4, Days 5-13

This week has been extra full of awesome! I hadn't seen BF since the beginning of October because he has been out of town. So much of the awesome this weekend was thanks to him! Here's what has been awesome in the last 8 days:

14 - Having a six year old! This age is the absolute best and holidays are more fun than they've ever been.
15- A peek into other people's lives! I took part in this blog swap. Instead of getting the 'autumn theme' I asked Abbey to send me local items from where she lived.
16 - Gracie my kitty. She's my rebound/replacement kitty I got when my favorite cat (first baby before Gav) ran away 2 years ago. She's sweet and beautiful, even though I'm still mourning the loss of Mizzy.
17 - Fro-yo with Halloween candy!
18 - Helping others. I hate when my friends are feeling down. I do what I can to boost their confidence and remind them how awesome they are :)
19 - Picking Gav up early from school! He was soo happy and shocked!
20 - Dressing up at Road Atlanta petite la monds as race car drivers! Gav was also a skeleton.
21- Learning to skateboard! I've always thought it looked sooo cool, but never had the chance to learn. BF was teaching Gav and then I had him teach me. I love it! I can't wait to practice again soon!

There are less than two weeks left in October. Who knows what awesomeness will happen next!

Cohosting Coffee Talk Today!

Posted By: Leah

Hey Y'all (that's my Paula Dean voice) I'm soo excited to be cohosting Coffee Talk with Natalie Blair of ohemgee today! These questions are from me! Be sure to grab a coffee and link up with Natalie and me today!

Coffee Talk with Natalie Blair
Oh and warning - the questions I came up with are a pile of random! You'll love them lol!

1. Let's talk about ink: Do you have tattoos? How many??

Yes! I have five. I have stars on my back, a star on my foot, Hello Kitty on my other foot, forget-me-not's on my lower back (tramp stamp) and my super big, painful anchor tattoo on my side. Read that epic story here.

2. Let's talk about hair styles: Bangs, do you have them, want them, or trying to grow them out? What about side bangs?
Yes! I have bangs. I had wanted them for a while and last year I took the advice of BF and got them. I think they are adorable and I never want to go back.

3. Let's talk about work: Without getting specific with a company name, what do you do? What did you want to be when you grew up when you were young?
I do program logistics for continuing education events (meeting planning). When I was young I wanted to be a flight attendant  I also wanted to be a concierge  Then I found out that both jobs had crazy hours.

4. Let's talk about friends: Do you find it easier or more difficult to meet new friends as an adult? Do you have what you'd consider 'blog friends'? What about IRL (in real life) friends?
Lauren, my friend at work who loves HK too!

I find it easier to meet new people as an adult. I think I'm a lot more confident in who I am and usually become friends with most people I meet. When I was younger I was really shy and quiet. I think I came off as stuck-up even though I wasn't at all. I just was a late bloomer.

I have a lot of 'friends' I've met through the blog world. Really cool girls I e-mail back and forth everyday. I'd say my bloggie bestie is Kayleigh of Down at Fraggle Rock. We email all the time. I have never met anyone from blogging IRL. Back in the day I met a couple people from online (from AOL and The Nest). But it was situations where we went to the same high school or college, I wasn't traveling cross country for them or anything. It was always awkward meeting people from online. I always painted a picture of what people were like, then I'd meet them and be like "OMG You are so short! You wear Tevas an it's not 1995? Gross!" Yeah. But if you like Hello Kitty as much as I do, forget about it, we are going to be besties. True story.

5. Let's talk about Social media: Android or iPhone? Twitter or Facebook?
I am seriously the ONLY person I know who has an android phone, just renewed my contract and got a droid 4 and I have very little interest in ever getting an iPhone. Why? Because I like to type. I like the keyboard. Plus I have an ipad, which is basically an iphone sorta kinda.

Yes, I'm on Twitter. I very rarely check it, but I do link up my IG and FB to cross-post so I have a little bit of a presence and get the msgs if someone @'s me back.

Both my IG & Twitter are private, but I have no problem sharing my usernames.
Lovely Life of Leah Blog's FB Page
Hit me up! I love social media. I think it's so awesome to connect and learn about people I have so much in common with, but have never met otherwise.

So link up with Natalie for coffee talk!

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Posted By: Leah
Happy 23rd Birthday Sarah!

It's my little sister Sarah's 23rd birthday today, wooo hooo!!!!

It seems like just yesterday (or 2 yrs ago) when you turned 21 in Denmark! And it's where the legal drinking age is 16 or 12 or something, oh the irony lol!
(catch up on that awesome post HERE).

Today's Sarah's Birthday!!! She lives all the way in Nashville. I still haven't gotten a chance to visit, but Gav and I will head over there soon. We really want to meet your new puppy Rosie and also go eat at the hibachi pancake place!!! Maybe even run into a Jonas Brother!
That's Rosie! A min pin rescue. Gav says she looks like the squirrel from Ice Age lol.

Sarah is my only sibling and is 9 years younger than me. In honor of Sarah's birthday, here are some mostly embarrassing, plus a few awesome pictures I've dug up of Sarah and I through the years. We've gone on A LOT of crazy adventures together.

Sarah was a competitive dancer! She danced from age 4 - 18 when she went to college, and that's a lot of dancing! She was the best at tap. My favorite performance was of her doing a lyracle dance to Maroon 5's 'Harder to Breathe.' All the girls had on black pleather, mesh shirts; they spun around and got real on the stage. It was awesome.

Every year, the day after Thanksgiving my family goes up to the NC mountains and gets the family's Christmas tree. It's a really special tradition. I was 25 here and Sarah just turned 16.

We are fortunate and my step-mom (sarah's mom's) family lives close to NYC. Back when Sarah was in high school we used to visit and ride the train into the city to see plays all the time. This was from one of the times we saw RENT. And if you saw I had on a RENT belt buckle then try to ignore my tourist ways, and also see what a fashion emergency I was.

Sarah was of course in my wedding back in the day (7 yrs ago). I picked out her dress. I of course found one that was a mini version of my wedding dress in my favorite color :D

Please ignore my Laura Ingalls Wilder spiral hair style. This was hottt back in '05 you just forgot haha!

And just like me, Sarah likes to break it down. I'm the one who likes to go out, and she's more of a home girl (you know, hang out at home). But in the right setting we both have a blast!

Sarah wrote the best toast of all time for my wedding. It was all about me. The highlight of the toast was the part about my feet. And rhymed that with neat. This is real. And was read in front of 75 ppl at my wedding. This is why Sarah is awesome.

We like to do cultural stuff too! Once... we went and found all the hipsters in Charlotte (this was 2 years ago before anyone even knew what a hipster was. Check out that post HERE).

Here we are at Christmas. Our dad was taking a picture and I am quite a bit taller than Sarah is (like 5 inches or so) . So Dad told me to scoot down on the sofa, then Sarah was too tall and by the time this photo was taken we're practically lying on our backs on the sofa.

And concerts! As soon as I moved to Greensboro, I won tickets at my job to see Britney Spears. And they were actually really amazing seats! I didn't really have new friends at my new job, i'd been there only a couple weeks, so I invited Sarah and two of her friends from college! (I like to pretend I look younger too but not so much). And I had a blast with these girls!

I've learned so much from Sarah, like about TOMS 5 years ago, before anyone else knew what they were. And she's the reason I went vegetarian and then vegan (then I gave it up, but we'll forget that part lol) was because Sarah did it (and still is veggie!) and made it look so easy. She can do the perfect cartwheel, and has even tried to teach Gav, but me... a work in progress.

Gav loves to hang out with Sarah too, who else would make him a bubble hat!?!

Sarah's also the reason why I started blogging. She has studied abroad I think 4 or 5 times, and each experience she has documented with a blog following her journey. Some stories fun, some embarrassing  but always interesting and with awesome photos.

So happy birthday Sarah! And I hope you have a wonderful day/week/year/everything! I'll see you at Thanksgiving when we go to the mountains to cut down the Christmas tree with the fam!

This is Sarah now in Nashville (head shot for her wedding planning gig)

This is my step-mom (Sarah's Mom), Sarah, and I at her graduation from college this year!
