Coffee Talk (mostly about Target)

Posted By: Leah

This is legit Coffee Talk with my friend Natalie. No really, I have a "PSL" sitting right here.
And the co-worker making the coffee run may have written this on the side of the cup. Not 100% what happened. But it really is a PSL, just not from Starbucks lol.

1. You're at Target or Walmart, what's the first department you hit?
Well... I normally would make some smart-ass comment about how I avoid Walmart like the plague. BUT the walmart a couple miles away from me just re-did the store and has an entire grocery section now. Gav and I went last week... and of course we saw someone getting arrested int he parking lot. So I digress ;)

TARGET - my love, the store directly across from where I live. Where I can walk and find my 'happy place'. The department there that I first hit depends on who I'm with AKA Shopping With Gav or Without Gav. If I'm WITH gav, we go to the concession counter (I guess that's what it's called) and he gets a strawberry smoothie. Then we can shop for a good hour or so in peace. If I'm WITHOUT GAV I usually go to the Jr's Department to look at clothes. It's right there as I walk in, and I dont' want to circle the store and come back to it.

Can't stop, won't stop on the somecards today about Target

2. What are 3 items you always have stocked in your home, fridge or pantry?
American singles 2% square cheese, flour tortillas, and ranch dressing. Yes, these are not exactly the healthiest choices, but if all else fails I can make Gav (or myself!) a cheese quesadilla for dinner. The ranch is for gav only, I can put it on anything and he'll eat it.

3. Do you prefer shopping alone or with others? Why?

ALONE! Duh! Unless it's clothes shopping for myself and I need another set of eyes to tell me what a hottie I am (kidding!... sorta). But I absolutely prefer shopping alone if possible. I can go where I want, get what I want, spend 30 minutes in the dollar bin section (clearly I'm still only talking about Target), if I'm alone. If I shop with Gav I like to give him the time to look at toys, Pokemon cards, Skylanders, seasonal (like Halloween stuff), and not have to rush him.

4. What's the biggest splurge you've ever made?
I really don't spend a lot of money. Yes, from time to time I pick up some seemingly un-necessary Hello Kitty items for myself... but they make me happy and that makes it necessary! Plus unless you're shopping the Swarovski store, HK is pretty cheap. I got BF an Ipad2 last year for his birthday, but that wasn't a splurge. That was something he truly loves and uses constantly. I don't buy jewelry, or handbags or shoes... except Toms. So I guess I'll say my collection of Toms is a splurge... but it's giving shoes to kids in need! I give up. I'd say I have never really made a splurge? This seems impossible... I might need to come back to this one.

5. What's the best deal you've ever snagged?
I will say for sure it was Earth Fare's pantry makeover a couple years back. Earth Fair is a big health food grocery store pretty similar to Whole Foods. Their deal was you bring in your unhealthy groceries and trade them in for healthy/organic stuff for free, even if the package/container is empty. Welllllll..... here's what I did. I found I had tons of these 'bad' items that were practically empty in my refrigerator/pantry at home. Instead of just going into Earth Fair once, I *may* have made multiple trips. I even asked the manager if this was okay, and they were all for it. So I really did get probably several hundred dollars of fancy organic groceries for free. And the new items were of course super delicious AND healthy. It was a win-win!

and finally.....
Yeah, I think it's safe to say my splurge is bi-weekly Target trips
(meaning two times a week, not every other week.)

  2. Target is my weakness. If I get out of there for under $50 I consider that a good day.

  3. These ecards had me shoulder laughing at my desk. Especially the "I went to Target and only bought what I went there for" said no one ever. Ain't that the TRUTH!

  4. ...and for the love of all that is good, don't ever get thirsty at a Target, because they have a Starbucks AND a Slushie machine RIGHT THERE. The temptation is just too strong - I'll end up with a latte and a hot pretzel, at least.
